a finished project..........

.....finally, after months of this project laying in the basket, I have finished it.......this may not be the final "spot", but for now,  it is going in our dining room.......

 

......after I finish a project, then it motivates me to start another......so I am off to look at my patterns.....till next time......smiles, Linda

..........as I begin to cozy the nest for fall, I will bring out some darker colored quilts, table runners, and pillows.......light the candles more often.......make my mom's simple apple crisp........sip hot cider and spice tea and settle down with some rug hooking in the evening..............simple blessings, till next time......Linda

Home Sweet Home sampler.......

I finished my sampler I shared with you the other day............and here it is......please pardon the bad pictures, the glass makes it so hard to take

 pictures !!!!  whenever I make samplers, I use old/vintage/antique frames.......I leave the original glass and wire for hanging, if I am lucky enough to purchase a frame with it........I stitched this on osnaburg fabric, then stained and distressed the sampler.........I used a piece of brown calico as a backing..........I was pretty pleased with how this turned out......I never plan a design, just start stitching whatever comes to mind, seems to turn out better if I don't over think it.....now I am on to another project !! thanks for visiting, Linda

my kind of day.........

........open !!!! every window in the house.........couldn't ask for a better day....and

like my mom always said, "you need to open everyday, even if for a few minutes to get some fresh air in and stale air out"........

........needle + thread = happy !!!

..........quiet, the house is sooooo quiet......to hot to work outside and caught up on cleaning....for today.........so I was looking at my collection of antique picture frames, and decided to make a sampler........years ago I could do counted cross stitch on linen, now my eyes won't let me.......so when I stitch, it is in a free form kinda way..........no counting, nothing straight.........just stitching where I want, in a primitive, young girl way........some might say sloppy........some may not even call it cross stitch.........I say, "I love it"........don't get me wrong, I more than admire a fine cross stitch sampler......anyway, it was nice to just stitch....no TV, windows open, just me and my needle and thread..........

........a different time.....

........greetings......well summer is over and has been a very busy time for me with my 5 grands....now they are all in school, and they love it, so that helps, but I miss them.  I have been watching grands for 13 years and this is quite a change for me, being home with no littles.......I will see them for about an hour in the morning and one to two hours after school.......so I am very happy about that !!!!!!!!!!  So now I will focus more on handwork....rug hooking, sampler making and calico covered boxes....also making more time for my blog.  I have just finished repainting my whole house, decluttering and organizing........after that I will trim my shrubs, then power wash the house !!!!!!!!   I have come to terms that life holds many stages, some good and some not so much !!!  I am blessed to have been able to spend as much time as I did with them.....I began watching all of them at 8 weeks old........so here is to a new/different chapter in my life.....
